The US Constitution dictates the Executive Branch, which consists of the President, the Vice President, the cabinet, and their staff teams.
Section II of the Constitution states that the President has the following responsibilities and powers:
- Being the commander-in-chief of the active military services and the militia
- Can grant pardons (except for impeachment)
- Can veto legislation created by Congress
- Can nominate heads of federal agencies and high court appointees.
- Congress must confirm or reject the president’s nominees.
