On January 3rd, 2025, Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ-5) introduced H.R. 72 – TBI and PTSD Treatment Act. This bill will amend Title 38 of the United States Code, “to direct the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to furnish hyperbaric oxygen therapy to veterans with traumatic brain injury or post-traumatic stress disorder.”

This bill has been reintroduced in multiple congressional sessions. The difficulty with this bill is that this particular treatment for PTSD or TBI conditions has not been approved by the FDA because there is a lack of research that confirms that it helps those conditions. The VA has also released an evidence brief on the matter.
