Representative Julia Brownley (D-CA-26) introduced H.R. 220, Veterans Infertility Treatment Act of 2025 on January 7, 2025. This bill will amend Chapter 17 of title 38, United States Code, to provide coverage for infertility treatment and standard fertility preservation services for the veteran or partner of the veteran.
Currently, the only veterans eligible for these services are those that suffer from infertility due to their service connected disability or the treatment for their disability. Through a 2014 self-reported study, the VA stated that of OEF/OIF veterans, 15.8% female veterans and 13.8% male veterans claim infertility. They also found that women veterans are more likely to look for infertility treatment than male veterans.
